Magazine Publishers

Over the weekend i viewed a few magazine publishers and picked a few random publishers. I emailed them all this message :
Good Morning,
I would like to create a magazine publication as part of my folio for university.

I only need 2 or 3 copies of this. Is this possible for you to do?

If so how much am I looking at for the most basic type of magazine and a higher end type like the glossy and thick pages.

The publication will be under 100 pages. Is there a price difference for the amount of pages I have if there is could you please specify.

If you cannot do this type of work, could you possibly think of another company that can do this?

I appreciate your time, thankyou.

Kind Regards, June Asik

June,

The best set for that would be Kwik Kopy or Snap.

Cheers,

Dave

Hi June,

Offset printing would be too expensive (thousands) for only 2 magazines.

You only cost effective option is to print it digitally.

Probably buy yourself a good inkjet printer that prints high res on gloss paper.

After that you can take it to a binding company to perfect bind it for you.

Maybe Kwik Copy or Kinko's can do it for you.

You might want to try some digital printers. There are many around.

Kind regards,

Dimitri

Hello June Like all manufacturing processes, printing has economies of scale, meaning that the unit cost of a magazine drops dramatically the longerthe print run is, and our form of 'web' printing more so than most. Ourminimum quantity is generally around 30,000, anything less than that andwe are not competitive. You would be best to ask a digital printer for a quote as theyspecialise in short-run work. Try Sinnott Brothershttp://www.sinnottbros.com.au as they may be able to help you. Estimates of cost for printing work are based on number of pages(usually multiples of 8 pages are most efficient e.g. 96pp), grade ofpaper (often the cover of a magazine is a heavier grade than the text;paper is graded in grams per square metre, gsm), trimmed size of finalproduct in millimetres and how the magazine is bound together ('saddlestitched' is where the magazine is stapled together and 'perfect bound'is where the magazine cover has a 'spine' and the pages are glued to it) Hope this helps
